My Research Interests...

Research Interests

• E-Health : I have investigate eHealth during the first year of my research studies.  The results were published in the JIEEEC 2003 Proceedings.
• Online Information Extraction : In particular from Medical Websites.
• Web/Text Mining : Web documents classification, clustering, and finding associations among them. A Question of interest is: "Is it possible to transform web documents into instances with predefined attributes?".  This would be a first step towards effective Web Mining! 
• Web Technologies : In particular the Semantic Web.

Ph.D. Research

Project Title: "Towards the Semantic Web: the Automation of Knowledge Acquisition from the Medical Web".

The Aim of my work is to develop methods for extracting knowledge from health-related websites to be used for adding a semantic layer to websites.  To achieve this goal, the work has focused on the following:

• The design of ontology for the domain of chronic disease - related websites, to guide the system as to which features should be extracted from a given website.
• The development of a general information extraction system to be used as a test bed and for further developments.
